Evaluation criteria

How papers will be evaluated for SusTAIN 2026. Reviewers will assess submissions on four criteria: originality, technical quality, relevance, and clarity. Papers that excel in these areas have the strongest chance of acceptance.

01

Originality & Novelty

Original, unpublished research that clearly advances the state of the art. Reviewers will look for what your paper does that has not been done before.

What reviewers look for

  • State your contribution explicitly at the end of the introduction
  • Critically compare against state-of-the-art in the related work
  • Both theoretical and practical contributions are welcome
  • Acknowledge prior work — including your own — and explain what is new
02

Technical Quality & Soundness

Methodology, analysis and validation must be technically correct, reproducible and reasonably complete.

What reviewers look for

  • Describe experimental settings with enough detail to reproduce
  • State all assumptions and discuss their implications
  • Choose appropriate baselines, datasets and metrics
  • Provide statistical significance or confidence intervals where applicable
  • Open-source artefacts and computational reproducibility are strongly encouraged
03

Relevance to Theme & Tracks

Fit to one of the eight official tracks and to the conference theme — empowering a sustainable society through emerging technologies.

What reviewers look for

  • Pick the single best-fitting track when submitting
  • Make the sustainability angle of your work explicit
  • Tie your work to UN SDGs or Vision 2030 priorities where applicable
  • If unsure of fit, contact the organising committee before submitting
04

Clarity of Presentation

Reviewers will reject excellent work that is poorly written. Help them help you by writing clearly.

What reviewers look for

  • Follow the recommended paper structure (Abstract → Introduction → … → Conclusion)
  • Use high-quality figures and tables, readable at A4 print size
  • Cite consistently using the Springer LNCS reference format
  • Use a professional proof-reader or AI language tool — and disclose AI use
